What should I be careful about handling used batteries?
Dispose used batteries as follows.
Used batteries may cause heat, fire, and bursting when they short, so insulate both positive and negative terminals using tapes, etc.
- Button-type batteries (with description: model SRxx, LRxx)
Do not dispose batteries in trash cans. Put them in recycling boxes placed at watch/clock stores. - Dry-cell batteries (alkali, manganese)
Batteries are categorized differently by different local governments for the purpose of disposal─recyclable waste, noncombustible waste, or harmful or hazardous waste, for example─and because of this, the method of disposal is also different. Follow the regulations of the city or town when disposing of these batteries. - Coin-type lithium batteries (with description: model CRxx, BRxx)
