[Solar watches] What is the power saving function?
It is a function of watches. Solar-powered watches featuring this function automatically turn off the display or stop the hands or the calendar to save energy when no energy has been produced for a fixed period because the solar cell is not exposed to light.
However, in power saving mode the correct time is still measured within the watch. Therefore, the current time is displayed automatically and normal operation (display, hand movement) is restored when the watch is exposed again to light and energy is generated.
