How many counterfeit watches and clocks are found?

Many of counterfeit watches and clocks are produced abroad, and a part of them are illegally imported into Japan.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Finance, there were 1,703 cases of illegal watches being detained at customs in 2023, a decrease of 27.9% compared to the previous year.
The value of the seized items is equivalent to 1.4 billion yen for genuine products (estimated value).
